Opened in November 2010 by founder and world renowned chef Luke Dale-Roberts, the Test Kitchen has brought life to Cape Town's Woodstock neighbourhood.
No stranger to awards and accolades, Dale-Roberts has never been content with keeping things the same, always striving to make the Test Kitchen ever-changing, exciting, fresh and new.
The Test Kitchen had recently undergone a complete overhaul with a fresh fit out and change to its menu and format. The new format seats only 40 guests per evening for an intimate dining experience.
Diners are taken on an incredible culinary journey and start off in the Dark Room followed by the Light Room. The Dark Room is made for guests to mingle with each other and share plates of finger food, trying cocktails and the first seven courses of the tasting menu. The Light Room is distinct from its predecessor in its light airiness and formality in which diners will experience the rest of the tasting menu.
Dale-Roberts' has been given complete creative freedom and it shows with his attention to detail with each dish showcasing exciting visuals and distinct flavours.
The Test Kitchen offers a 21 course set menu and it is always recommended to book well in advance. Reservations open on the 1st of each month and tables often get snapped up within minutes.
If you're after a unique fine dining experience, we recommend not leaving Cape Town until you've had an amazing culinary experience at the Test Kitchen.
