PLATINUM’S 2017 EXPANSION
This year Platinum will be extending our network by partnering under a licensing and branding arrangement with regionally-based travel organisations that have strong corporate client bases. Negotiations with travel businesses in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand are currently underway. Due to growth, Platinum's Brisbane office has also relocated to a larger space at Level 4, 370 Queen Street in the heart of Brisbane's CBD. More updates to follow.
W MELBOURNE CONFIRMED
Marriott International have announced their plans to open its second W branded hotel in Melbourne in 2020. The 294 room property will be housed at 447 Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD. The features of this property will include: a gym and pool, an AWAY spa, restaurant and bar.
EMIRATES OPENS UP PAY PER VISIT LOUNGE ACCESS AT DUBAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Emirates have launched their new pay-per-visit lounge access for Emirates Skywards members no matter their class of travel. For US$100, eligible travellers can access the Emirates Business Class lounges and for US$200, eligible travellers can access the Emirates First Class lounges in Dubai for up to four hours.
VIRGIN'S ACCELERATE CORPORATE PROGRAM ANNOUNCE SAVINGS PROMOTION FOR SMES
Virgin have announced their Accelerate Corporate program savings initiative for small and medium sized companies. Their promotion includes up to 15% off when you book by 31 March 2017 for travel until 30 June 2017. For more information: Click here.
CATHAY PACIFIC'S TO UPGRADE AUSTRALIAN FLIGHTS TO AIRBUS A350S BY 2019
Cathay Pacific have announced their plans to run their Australian flights on Airbus A350s by 2019. This will mean that the A350s will replace its current A330 fleet with upgraded economy, premium economy and business class seats and inflight internet.
QATAR AIRWAYS TO SHED ONEWORLD'S LIMITING BAGGAGE RULES
As of March 1, Qatar Airways will allow their passengers to check their baggage straight onto a connecting Oneworld carrier's flight, even if the flights were booked on two separate tickets. Currently, if a Qatar flight and its connecting Oneworld flight were booked separately, passengers would have to disembark, wait for their bags, clear customs and re-check their baggage onto their next Oneworld carrier flight. Shedding these baggage rules will bring about a collective sigh of relief for many travellers.
VIRGIN TO LAUNCH AUSTRALIAN HONG KONG FLIGHTS MID YEAR
Virgin Australia have announced their plans to fly between Australia and Hong Kong mid-this year on its Airbus A330 aircraft. Virgin are to announce schedule times, fares and exact routes in early April.
MELBOURNE AIRPORT TO OPEN PRIVATE VIP JET TERMINAL IN 2018
Melbourne Airport will have its own dedicated terminal for VIP travellers including celebrities, rock stars, the extremely wealthy and others who will fly to the airport by private jet. The terminal will not have a curfew and construction has already commenced for its 2018 opening.
BRITISH AIRWAYS TO LAUNCH CLUB EUROPE BUSINESS CLASS ON UK FLIGHTS
British Airways are to launch its Club Europe business class on UK Domestic flights this upcoming April. Club Europe will include standard business class offerings such as: larger luggage allowances, lounge access, dedicated check-in, the opportunity to board flights earlier and more.
QATAR AIRWAYS HAVE SIGHTS SET ON CANBERRA-SYDNEY-DOHA ROUTE FOR 2018
Qatar Airways have their sights set on flights to Canberra via Sydney on its latest Airbus A350 aircraft. Qatar are predicting this route to be a daily service to commence in February 2018.
