Qantas have announced that they are now selling tickets for their new direct service between Melbourne and San Francisco. The first service for this route will begin on 1 September 2018. The new route will operate four times a week on Qantas' Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. QF49 will leave Melbourne in the evening to arrive into San Francisco the same evening. QF50 will depart San Francisco at 22:00 to arrive into Melbourne in the early morning two days later.
Etihad have announced that they have cut the price of paid access to their Business Lounge at Melbourne Airport. For Etihad Guest Frequent Flyers, it will now cost $75 to pay for access to the lounge if they're not flying in First or Business Class. For Silver members, this fee is down to $65. The airline have also made their private VIP room accessible for a $40 flat fee.
The Hyatt Corporation have updated their cancellation policy so that travellers now have to give 48 hours notice to cancel their bookings. Travellers part of Hyatt's membership programs will not be affected and will still be able to give 24 hours notice to cancel bookings.
Air France have unveiled their revamped Business Class lounge at Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. The lounge features saunas, sleep suites and spa in a dedicated 'wellness zone'. The lounge is open to Flying Blue Elite Plus cardholders and Air France Business Class travellers with paid access available for Air France travellers not flying in Business.
Emirates have extended their My Emirates Pass program for customers until the 31 March 2018. The program allows passengers access to different discounts and a range of offers in Dubai by showing their boarding pass and valid ID to Emirates partners. These partners include a range of restaurants, spas and other attractions within Dubai. More information here.
London's Heathrow Airport have worked with Apple to create detailed terminal maps on Apple Maps. The maps will help passengers find their way around the UK airport and includes information on nearby baggage claim areas, restaurants, restrooms and more. London Heathrow maps are available for iPads and iPhones operating on iOS11 and above.
Philippine Airlines have announced that they will begin direct services between Brisbane and the Philippine capital, Manila. The flights will begin on the 27th of March and will operate 4 times a week on Airbus A340 aircraft.
American Express have unveiled plans to open a new Centurion Lounge at New York's JFK Airport in early 2019. It will be American Express' biggest Centurion lounge and will be spread across two levels featuring the regular lounge facilities such as workspaces, Wi-Fi access, shower suites and food and bar menu options.
Malaysia Airlines have announced their plans to bring back their Brisbane and Kuala Lumpur direct route as of June this year. The new route will operate four times per week - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday - in both directions. The route will be operated on Malaysia's Airbus A330-300 aircraft fitted with lie flat business seats. MH134 departs Brisbane at 11:20pm to reach KL the next day at 5:30am whilst MH135 departs KL at 9:50am to arrive into Brisbane at 7:50pm the same day.
Vietnam Airlines have revealed that they will be upgrading their premium economy service for passengers on Sydney and Melbourne to Vietnam flights. These upgrades include: pre-departure drinks, changes to its meal offering and the inclusion of new premium amenity kits.
